Wine Review: This ruby colored Charbono opens with a black raspberry and blackberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, nicely balanced, and juicy. The flavor profile is tasty black raspberry with nicely integrated oak. I also detected hints of black cherry and a touch of blueberry. The finish is dry and its well managed tannins fade away nicely. This Charbono is very food friendly and would pair perfectly with a filet mignon. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Charbono is back! After the record-low yields for this variety in 2010, the 2011 vintage was once more back on track and the resulting wine is just as good as Charbono gets. We aged this 100% varietal in primarily neutral French cooperage to focus the wine on the fruit component, reminiscent of wild berry jelly, grape candy, and a tease of toast. The magic is back!
