Wine Review: This Excellent opaque and dark ruby colored Merlot from Robert Foley opens with a mild blueberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, well balanced, and silky. Its delicious flavors are blueberry, spice, and plum with a hint of black pepper. The finish is dry and its ultra-fine tannins show nice length. This offering is more refined and elegant than Mr. Foley's previous Merlot vintages. However, it is so delicious that quaffing a bottle in one sitting is highly likely. I would pair this terrific Merlot with a filet mignon and a very good friend. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Make no mistake; our Merlots are for Cabernet lovers. Ripe bright cherry-like aromas with a hint of raspberry. The palate displays a rich middle flooded with flavors of berries, chocolate, and espresso. A long finish is graced with gentle fine tannins – this is a Merlot for Cab lovers. All Merlot, our homegrown Howell Mountain fruit again combines with Merlot from the warmer Valley floor vineyards to provide a delightful balance of structure and a big round middle. Even if you think you don’t like Merlot, reserve judgement until you’ve tried ours.
