Wine Review: This clear medium ruby colored Zinfandel from Robert Biale is very good. It opens with a black cherry, oak, and cola bouquet with hints of orange peel and earthiness. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with nicely integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is well-balanced, round, and supple. The flavor profile is a tasty black plum and cola blend with notes of strawberry licorice and cinnamon. We also detected hints of cherry, clove, and a touch of oak in the background. The finish is dry and its integrated fine tannins drift away nicely. This Zin is very food friendly and would pair well with many meals. We would pair this Zin with a filet mignon or a hunter's stew. Enjoy – Ken & Mark
Winemaker Notes: Sourced primarily from Biale's estate vineyards in the Oak Knoll district, this wine is round and plush with a gentle grip of perfectly ripe tannins. A spectrum of red and dark fruits – raspberries, cherries, blackberries, bright vivid aromas, fine-grained texture, star anise, black and white pepper, cocoa, subtle nuanced oak. Age worthy, compelling, decadent: a beautifully proportioned Napa Valley Zinfandel. If cellared well, this wine will continue to improve for the next 3-5 years.
