Wine Review: This intriguing Italian white, made with Cortese grapes, is an almost clear straw color, and displays aromas of honeydew, beeswax, wet granite, Bosc pear and a hint lime. It has a textured, and silky mouthfeel on the palate. It is round and medium bodied with plus acidity. It is also bright and clean yet nuanced. There are flavors of Bosc pear, ginger, lime, saline and tarragon. It closes with a racy, mineral-driven finish that lasts for a while. It would pair this very good value Gavi with an expansive Italian antipasto platter. - Mark
Winemaker Notes: One of the many classic Italian white wines, Gavi (aka Cortese) is named for the town of its origin and has reached the DOCG ranking. It is a classic starter wine that is crisp, racy and immensely fresh. This vintage is pale yellow green in color; the nose bursts with citrus, pear and mineral followed by a crisp, fresh racy finish. It is excellent with shellfish stew or to be paired elegantly with light starters of vegetables or fish.
