Wine Review: This rustic Italian red is a cloudy deep garnet color with an orange rim. I detected plum, coffee, vanilla and black pepper in the bouquet with some hints of light tomato leaf as well. It was medium-plus bodied with medium-plus acidity. It is balanced, jammy and slightly savory. It has flavors of ripe dark cherry, boysenberry jam, vanilla and anise. There are plenty of fine-grained tannins in the moderate length finish. This good value Barbera would go well with game. I would suggest pairing it with a wild boar ravioli. – Mark
Winemaker Notes: La Bricca is a deep, ruby-red colored wine with violet hues. The bouquet is vinous and intense with ethereal aromas (typical of the Barbera grape) and scents of ripe fruit and spices. The wine is full-bodied with very pleasant silky tannins. Enjoy it with meat dishes, rich pasta, risotto and well-aged cheeses. To appreciate the wine at its best, it should be opened 1 hour before serving.
