Wine Review: This ruby colored Barbera from Renato Ratti opens with a blackberry and loam bouquet with hints of black licorice and black tea leaves. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is round, and the fruit is juicy. Those fruit flavor are black plum and mild black licorice with notes of cherry and orange twist. I also detected hints of oolong tea and a touch of dried strawberry. The finish is dry, and its mild tannins and fruits linger nicely. This Barbera benefits from some aeration, so opens it in advance or swirl it quite a bit before pairing it with a duck à l'orange. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Intense, ruby red. Bouquet of ripe fruit with an undercurrent of spices. Full flavor with long persistence.
