Wine Review: This dark garnet colored Cab-based blend from Washington is very nice. It opens with a fragrant strawberry and red raspberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and smooth. The flavor profile is a gentle plum with notes of strawberry and a touch of oak. I also picked up hints of minerlilty, blueberry and a dash of pepper. The finish is dry and its mild tannins fade away nicely. This is very food friendly and will pair nicely with many foods. I would pair it with homemade meatloaf. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Our 2013 Helix Pomatia has a lovely rich, sweet yet spicy nose of black currant, plum, cardamom and violets that will keep you pleasantly captivated as you and your significant other prepare your favorite midweek dinner. Its velvety texture bathes the palate with luscious black cherry and succulent dried dark fruit that’s stimulated by a soft yet vibrant acidity. On the finish, a gentle wave of focused fruit is a bobbing streak of perfumed wood spice impregnated with specs of loam. This is my favorite Pomatia to date!
