Wine Review: This opaque and dark ruby colored Merlot from Washington opens with a mild black cherry and dark chocolate bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and juicy. The flavor profile is a plum and black cherry blend with notes of gentle oak and a touch of black pepper. The finish is dry and its tannins are a bit sticky and show nice length. I would pair this nice Merlot with a tangy pulled pork sandwich. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: While bathing my glass with soft garnet color, the Merlot’s nose evokes a vision of reaching into the cabinets next to my stove and prepping dinner: saute pan, cutting board, small glass bowls, knives, food. Roasted tomato, dried dark cherries, sage, rose petal and sandalwood. A Powerful palate of deep black cherry reduction, roasted tomato, fresh sage, a touch of espresso ground French roasted coffee, with hints of dark chocolate, toasted walnut, cedar shavings and chopped vanilla bean. I’m glad I get to sample as I cook!
