Wine Review: This opaque ruby colored red blend from Washington is Reininger’s version of a Super Tuscan. It is a pleasant wine that is ready to go now. It opens with a mild black cherry and gentle vanilla oak bouquet. On the palate, is wine is medium bodied, balanced, and very easy to drink. The flavor profile is a light plum with hints of pomegranate, cedar and a bit of cherry. The finish is dry and its mild fine tannins fade away nicely. This wine is showing well now and should be consumed in the near term with a filet mignon. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Cima, meaning summit, has been an “Hmm…I wonder where this trail leads to” experience, an unintended diversion on a scenic byway off the Bordeaux freeway leading me on an incredible romantic journey with Sangiovese. The 2007 has aromatics of cherry hard candy, creme brulee, a touch of dried fruit spice and savoriness that screams Walla Walla. Its garnet body smoothly enters the curves as it delicately hugs corners of cassis and cola nut then tattooing a skid mark of blackberry and date as its acidity accelerates for the straight away trailing a wispy exhaust of leather, tobacco and cedary eucalyptus. The view from the summit is amazing.
