Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Red Blend from Red Schooner opens with a ripe blackberry and smoky oak bouquet with hints of black cherry, black licorice, cocoa, and orange zest). On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is well-balanced, rich, concentrated, and super smooth. The flavor profile is extracted blackberry and black licorice blend with notes of clove and black pepper. We also detected hints of oak, black raspberry, stony minerality, and dark chocolate. On the finish, its flavors, acidity, and refined dusty tannins stick around for quite some time. I would drink this red blend in the near term.
