Wine Review: This dry-styled Riesling from Red Newt is pale straw colored and opens with a fragrant and appealing Anjou pear and white peach bouquet with hints of Vaseline and honeydew melon. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, slightly viscous, and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a flinty green apple and raw almond blend with notes of unripe Anjou pear and tart star fruit. We also detected hints of green tea. The finish is dry, and its flavors are nicely extended. We would pair this Riesling with grilled swordfish. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Overall goals and philosophy of wine: To make a dry Riesling as powerful and textural as the very best that come from Germany, Austria, and Alsace. This wine has become a hallmark product of Red Newt and propels the winery's reputation as a world class Riesling producer ever higher. From a small, one hectare Knoll that rises above the Lahoma Vineyard, the beautiful and ripe fruit that makes it into this wine can be enjoyed for many years to come.
