Wine Review: This golden honey colored Gewurztraminer from the Finger Lakes opens with a fragrant and attractive lychee and lemon bouquet with hints of honey, apple blossoms, and ripe pineapple. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with well-integrated plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round and bright. The flavor profile is a tasty lychee and honey blend with notes of ginger, pear, and chalky minerality. We also detected some hints of apricot and white pepper in the mix. It finishes with its flavors and acidity lingering and lasting for a while. This very good value Gewurz would pair well with pan-fried rainbow trout with a lemon butter sauce or with cheese fondue. Winemaker Notes: This wine is made and blended in such a way that it is lighter, more refreshing, and with more fruit aromas as compared to rose perfume. Perfectly ripe fruit, flavors reminiscent of the very center of a ripe watermelon. This ripeness is the result of patient waiting as the Gewurztraminer gets over a final plateau in late-summer where it tastes nearly ripe but not quite there.
