Wine Review: This dark red colored Merlot from the Finger Lakes opens with a red cherry and cinnamon bouquet with hints of fresh basil and red currant. On the palate, this wine is medium minus bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced and round. The flavor profile is a strawberry and mild red currant blend with notes green tea. We also detected hints of red cherry and celery. The finish is dry, and its mild tannins and flavors fade away nicely. We would pair this mid-week Merlot with a pork loin. Enjoy – Ken and Mark
Winemaker Notes: From the steep sloping Two Gorges Vineyard (formerly known as the Glen Eldridge Vineyard) that falls sharply into the waters of Seneca Lake. This is a robust and structured, cool-climate Merlot with black cherries, ripe plum, earth, and spice. The depth of the nose and big tannins on the palate point to a very age worthy wine, but the drinkability in its youth is noticeable and inviting with air.
