Wine Review: 2007 was a Very Good vintage for reds in the Finger Lakes. This dark ruby colored Meritage from Ravines is a nice reflection of that. It opens with a fragrant black cherry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, well balanced, and elegant. The flavor profile is a tasty mild blend of black raspberry and oak. The finish is dry and its mild fine tannins linger very nicely. This well made blend will pair very nicely with a pork tenderloin. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2007 Ravines Meritage shows the potential for the Bordeaux varieties in the Finger Lakes region in a warm and sunny growing season. The vintage led to a wine of uncommon structure and balance for the region. The wine displays a deep ruby color and an intense aromatic impact with aromas of plum, cherries, black currant, spices, tobacco and gentle oak. The ripe, soft tannins give the wine an almost chocolate quality and hints at the considerable underlying structure promising more than ten years of cellaring potential.
