Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Zinfandel opens with an appealing black raspberry and plum bouquet with hints of boysenberry. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced and refined for a Zin. The flavors are a tasty blueberry and oak blend with notes of mild minerality nicely folded in. I also detected a little plum and boysenberry and touch of wintermint towards the end. The finish is dry and its well managed tannins and fruit drift away nicely. This is one of the nicest Zins that I have covered this season. I would pair it with a filet mignon. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2014 Old Hill is a wine that is refined, but assertive. Powerful ripe aromas of mint, cedar, vanilla, and dark chocolate are underpinned by the full fruit character of Bing Cherries and Black raspberries. This is an extremely alluring wine that is attractive now but, as most past vintages from this vineyard have demonstrated, will continue to get more interesting for many years.
