Wine Review: This very very dark ruby colored Zinfandel from Ravenswood is top notch. It opens with a fragrant boysenberry bouquet with hints of blueberry. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced and juicy. The flavor profile is a delicious mild boysenberry and blueberry blend with notes of black cherry. I also detected hints of minerality and faint oak. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins are nicely prolonged. This Zin is very impressive! I would pair it with beef bourguignon. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2013 Old Hill Zinfandel is refined and reserved yet assertive. It displays aromas of red fruit, dried flowers, anise and bramble spice. It has firm but very fine tannins, leading to a long enjoyable finish and also contributing to the terrific aging potential of this wine. Drink between now and 10—15 years.
