Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Syrah from Ramey opens with a mild blueberry and acai bouquet with a hint of sandalwood. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, smooth, but still a bit tight. The flavor profile is a dark chocolate covered mulberry with notes of gentle minerality and oak. We also detected hints of dark coffee, dried cherry and licorice. The finish is dry and its flavors and mild tannins show nice length. The Panel suggested decanting this Syrah to loosen it up a bit. We think this Syrah will get even better with time. We would pair it with homemade meatloaf. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Our Syrahs are grown in the cool climate of the Sonoma Coast which offers a style reminiscent of the Northern Rhone regions of Hermitage and Cornas: Aromas and flavors of smoked meat, white pepper, green olive and grapefruit, coupled with a silky texture and savory flavor.
