Wine Review: This pitch black colored Syrah from Ramey opens with an attractive black raspberry bouquet with hints of blueberry and old oak. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced and juicy. The flavor profile is a tasty blueberry and oak blend with notes of black raspberry. I also detected hints of black licorice, minerality and black plum. The finish is dry and its flavors and moderate tannins stick around for quite a while. Fans of South African reds will be keen on this Syrah. I would pair it with Brazilian Alcatra (Top Sirloin). Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Our Syrahs are grown in the cool climate of the Sonoma Coast which offers a style reminiscent of the Northern Rhone regions of Hermitage and Cornas: Aromas and flavors of smoked meat, white pepper, green olive and grapefruit, coupled with a silky texture and savory flavor.
