Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Syrah was one of three wines that tied for first place in our big blind tasting. It opens with a mild black currant and black raspberry bouquet with a hint of juniper, toffee, and vanilla oak. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and smooth. The flavor profile is a very tasty mild blackberry with notes of nicely integrated oak and minerality. We also detected hints of plum as well. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins are controlled and show very nice length. The panel suggested pairing this terrific Syrah with pan roasted duck breast or Emeril's rosemary and garlic roast leg of lamb. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Our Syrahs are grown in the cool climate of the Sonoma Coast which offers a style reminiscent of the Northern Rhone regions of Hermitage and Cornas: aromas and flavors of smoked meat, white pepper, green olive and grapefruit, coupled with a silky texture and savory flavor.
