Wine Review: This pale garnet colored Pinot Noir from Raen opens with a strawberry and red raspberry bouquet with hints of cedar, funky earth, and violets. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, delicate, round, and seamless. The flavor profile is a very tasty gentle red raspberry and red plum blend with notes of loam and wild strawberry. We also detected some hints of chalky minerality and white tea. The finish is dry, and its flavors and refined tannins linger and last for a very very long time. I would pair this Pinot with nothing. I would just drink it. The Tasting Panel would pair it with a mushroom risotto or beef tartare. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Our Royal St. Robert bottling is dedicated to our grandfather, who has been our greatest teacher in our journey in wine. This special cuvée is a selection from our coastal vineyards, giving a window to the rugged hills of the westerly Sonoma Coast. It opens with vibrant aromas of black and red cherry, rose petal, and black tea fill the bowl. Wild raspberry and just-ripe red plum notes give way to coastal moss, wet gravel, and forest underbrush. Western spice box notes complement the brooding, powerful fruit core, giving way to a vibrant and lasting finish.
