Wine Review: This ruby colored Cabernet Franc based wine from South Africa is very good. It opens with new leather and black cherry like bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and juicy. The flavor profile is a cedar plank influenced red plum with notes of red currant and minerality. The finish is dry and its moderate dusty tannins build up and linger for quite a while. This wine would pair very nicely with a juicy Kobe slider. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Jasper is a tribute to Bruwer's late father who was one of Raats' founders and the viticulturist for nine years. This complex Cabernet Franc-driven Bordeaux blend displays intense and multifaceted aromas on the nose with blackberry, black cherry and bramble in abundance along with subtle hints of forest floor, and spicy tobacco. The walk in the Black Forest continues with blue and blackberry dancing on a tight rope with focus and concentration, following through onto a perfectly balanced, fine grained, velvety palate. The finish lingers with hints of fresh mint, cinnamon and perfume.
