Wine Review: This white gold colored Chenin Blanc from South Africa opens with a green apple and wet stone bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and savory. The flavor profile is a tasty Anjou pear with nicely integrated minerality. I also detected hints of ginger ale and light lemon. The finish is dry and rather refreshing. This Chenin is very much a quaffing wine that calls out for a second glass and bacon wrapped scallops. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: This transcendent bottling from Chenin master Bruwer Raats sets the standard for South African Chenin Blanc. Rich and intense, Old Vine Chenin Blanc is a profound wine that strikes a perfect balance between elegance and power. It offers luscious flavors of honeyed pear, fig and citrus fruit, with an intense, mouthwatering minerality. Appealing notes of ginger and spice carry through on the lengthy finish.
