Wine Review: This deep purple colored field blend from Portugal opens with a black raspberry and anise bouquet with hints of flint and cigar box. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium acidity. It is round, rich, and displays nicely concentrated flavors. Those flavors are a complex blend of anise and ripe blackberry along with notes of, blueberry, iron filings, oolong tea, and black pepper. There are also hints of prune and mocha in the mix. The finish is dry and its dusty tannins, fruit flavors and well managed acidity linger last for a very long time. I would pair this excellent offering from Vallado with a dry-aged ribeye steak. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Very concentrated aromas, with balsamic notes of oak, fig, black plum and tobacco. The palate is full-bodied and firm, with mature and silky tannins. There are mineral notes, and an elegant, persistent, and complex finish.
