Wine Review: This opaque and very dark ruby colored “Field Blend” from Portugal opens with a red currant and kirsch bouquet with a hint of plum. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced rich and savory. Like the nose, flavor profile is a stewed red plum and kirsch blend with some notes raspberry and minerality and a hint of oak. The finish is dry and its mild tannins linger for a bit. This wine would pair well with short ribs. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This blend is very dark red, with crimson highlights. Aromas of balsamic, fig, black plum and hints of tobacco fill the nose. The palate shows great structure and a full-bodied firmness, with mature, silky tannins. Mineral notes mix with the aforementioned fruit, leading to a very elegant, complex and persistent finish. Serve at room temperature with meats and game.
