Wine Review: This midnight purple colored wine from Quinta de la Rosa is very impressive. It opens with a ripe blackberry and oak bouquet with notes of black cherry. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, slightly acidic, rich and concentrated. The flavor profile is similar to the nose. It features an oak and blackberry blend with integrated graphite. I also detected hints of black olive, black cherry and black tea. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins are very sticky and last for quite a while. This wine would benefit from some decanting in the near term. After decanting, a bit, I would pair it with a well-marbled cowboy ribeye steak. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: A profound, almost opaque color, this 2017 wine has enormous intensity and aromatic complexity with layer upon layer of flavors. It is concentrated and structured, but at the same time elegant and balanced. Its equilibrium enables the wine to show well young but at the same time it has an enormous potential for aging. Mature black fruit, yet fresh, aromas. Floral notes with a seductive liquor and chocolate finish. Very rich, complex and full on the palate with rich flavors but always elegant. Succulent tannins contribute to a very long and delicious finish. Best served with red meats and more powerful dishes. It also goes well with Serra cheese found in Portugal.
