Wine Review: This opaque and midnight blue colored wine opens with a musty leather and old oak like bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, and rich. The flavor profile is a concentrated black currant with notes of blackberry and oak. I also detected hints of black licorice, plum and black pepper that add to its complexity. This finish is quite dry and its big and dusty tannins show great length. This very impressive wine from Portugal would be perfect with a cowboy cut ribeye. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2009 reserve has a huge amount of blackberry fruit and concentration. It is a very structured wine with mature, ripe tannins and layers of ripeness and floral undertones coming from both the Touriga varieties. The wine has a wonderful fresh finish giving it an overall balance and equilibrium.
