Wine Review: This mahogany colored Tawny Port from Quinta de la Rosa opens with a golden raisin and dried cherry bouquet with hints of dark honey and candied orange peel. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, slightly viscous and rich. The flavor profile is blend of dried cherry and gentle golden raisin with notes of cinnamon. We also detected some hints orange peel and figs. The finish is dry and its flavors drift away nicely. The Panel would pair this Port with rice pudding with cinnamon, bread pudding or pecan pie. Winemaker Notes: It is a rich and elegant blend with wonderful aromas exuding the heat of the Douro. On the palate it is complex with powerful dried fruit, figs, honey and almonds with a long pleasing finish and a touch of mandarin. It should be consumed within 2 to 3 years of bottling. Serve chilled as an aperitif or to accompany fois gras.
