Wine Review: This opaque and very dark purple colored wine opens with a mild yet musty plum and new leather bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, smooth, and balanced. The flavor profile is a mild black cherry with mild infused oak and blackberry. The finish is quite dry and its big dusty tannins are present for a long time. This wine would pair well with pot roast or slow cooked beef brisket. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: At merely 2.75 tons per acre, the grapes for West Face are grown on the steep slopes of Ferrari-Carano's Look Out Mountain which sits at the junction of Alexander Valley, Knights Valley and Chalk Hill appellations. Dark, concentrated aromas of blackberry syrup, baking spices and toasted oak surround flavors of warm berry pie, butterscotch and milk chocolate. Opulent roasted, caramel oak flavors come through with plentiful, silky tannins providing textural proof of this wine's ageability.
