Wine Review: This pitch black colored Shiraz from the Barossa and Eden Valleys is a fruit bomb. It opens with a fragrant black currant and black licorice like bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, juicy and savory. The flavor profile is a cedar influenced Chambord with notes of minerality and Slim Jim. I also detected hints of strawberry licorice and a touch of craisin. The finish is dry and its flavors are nicely prolonged. This wine is quite young and improves pair nicely with some air. I would pair it with a tangy pulled pork sandwich with creamy coleslaw. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The Barossa & Eden Valleys Shiraz epitomises the philosophy of Powell & Son: to marry the greatness of the Barossa and Eden Valleys. The result is a wine which displays an intense perfume of black fruits, anise and violets, preceding a dense, seductive palate of dark fruits and smoked meats backed by firm tannins and an assertive acid structure.
