Wine Review: This dark red colored Pinot Noir from Ponzi opens with an appealing blueberry and mild smoked meat bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and easy to drink. The flavor profile is a mild oak and cherry-cola blend with notes of nicely integrated minerality. I also detected hints of black raspberry, black pepper and plum in the background. The finish is dry and its flavors and mild tannins linger nicely. This Pinot will be a crowd pleaser and would be a nice glass pour option at a fine dining restaurant. I would pair it with a gourmet bacon burger with sautéed mushrooms. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Beautiful aromatics of blackberry, cinnamon stick, dried cranberry and cedar jump from the glass. The mouth is supple with strawberry, balsamic reduction, lavender, thyme and cocoa powder finishing with soft tannins laced with black licorice.
