Wine Review: This dark red colored Pinot Noir from Ponzi is impressive and truly Excellent! It opens with a mild strawberry and cola bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, nicely balanced and super smooth. The flavor profile is a delicious gentle plum and mild blueberry blend with notes of gentle minerality and oak. I also picked up a touch of cherry-cola towards the end. The finish is dry and its well-managed refined tannins sail away nicely. This Pinot is so good that it will not last long. Share a bottle with someone special while enjoying a filet mignon at your favorite steakhouse. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: I would liken 2016 to the 2006 vintage where we saw lush, beautiful wines with unexpected elegance and acidity. Truly, a stellar vintage for Oregon. Our Reserve displays initial aromatics of salted caramel and dark chocolate lead to deep and diverse notes of paprika, fig, graphite, oyster shell, cedar, clove and nutmeg laced with beautiful floral wafts of violet and dried rose petal. The palate is seamless with flavors of bittersweet chocolate, ancho and candied citrus. The finish is long with chalky tannins.
