Wine Review: This dark red colored Nerello Mascalese opens with a dark cherry and wet stone bouquet with a hint of strawberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, bright and lively. The flavor profile a stony minerality and cherry blend with notes of plum, cedar, and rhubarb. I also detected some hints of black pepper and herbal tea. The finish is dry, and its flavors and mild tannins fade away nicely. I would pair this Nerello Mascalese with a grilled pork chops. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: Vanilla, sour cherry, wild strawberry, a very clean flowery touch. Fleshy and smooth in the mouth. Very expressive fruit with more complex aromatic intrusions of undergrowth, myrtle, and oriental spices. A wine which unexpectedly transforms itself into a champion of red drinks, with marked flavor and a tasting profile with emerging and exciting traces of iron, rhubarb, and black pepper. Its versatility permits it to accompany the simplest dishes, like pasta with tomato sauce, to the most complex, both meat and fish.
