Wine Review: This almost clear colored Carricante opens with a golden delicious apple and lychee bouquet with hints of banana, lemon zest, and cinnamon. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium acidity. It displays a very round mouthfeel and is easy drinking. The flavor profile is a white peach and green apple blend with notes of lime and tangerine. We also detected hints of green tea and lemon zest. The finish is dry, and its flavors linger and last for a while. The Panel would pair this very food friendly Carricante with Emeril’s crab cakes, Rhode Island clam chowder, or with butternut squash raviolis. Enjoy – KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: The Carricante grapes from Etna are the result of the combination of black sand and altitude, which provide distinct aromas and three-dimensional flavors. In this vintage, there are notes of white acacia flowers, fresh almonds, and mountain peaches. On the palate it is juicy and full of hints of yellow plums and prickly pear. This wine pairs perfectly with raw fish and fresh fruit, with fish appetizers and soft cheeses. It is also a refined aperitif.
