Wine Review: This light gold colored Champagne from Piper Heidsieck displays lots of random small streaming bubbles. It opens with an apple turnover and white tea bouquet with hints of sourdough toast and almonds. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is bright, zesty, and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is toasted walnut and oolong tea blend with notes of tangerine and ginger. We also detected some hints of mead and toasted rye bread in the mix. The finish is dry, and its acidity and flavors are quite extended. The Tasting Panel would pair Champagne with Sunday brunch or a Rhode Island clam fritter. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Cuvée Brut is an emblematic multi-vintage champagne, elaborated from ablend of more than 100 crus sourced from 3 grape varieties of Champagne. The Cuvée Brut takes us on a journey of almonds, fresh hazelnuts and fruits from the orchard, like freshly cut apples and pears. The wine also offers a smoky quality, almost toasted, which gives the impression of savoring a bite of freshly baked bread, just out of the oven. It is a precise wine, extremely well balanced, which offers plenty of finesse on the palate.
Gourmet Pairing Recommendation: Line-caught Sea Bass, with celery, grapefruit and saffron.
