Wine Review: This midnight blue colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Howell Mountain opens with a fragrant black raspberry bouquet with hints of iron shavings. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced and rich for a 2011 Cab. The flavor profile is a rich mineral infused black currant with notes of black raspberry. I also detected hints of espresso and oak. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins are a bit sticky. This Cab benefits from aeration, so decant it for a bit to loosen up the fruit. It would pair nicely with comfort foods. I would pair it with beef bourguignon. Enjoy – Ken

Winemaker Notes: The 2011 Buckeye Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon bursts from the glass with aromas of black currant and blackberry fruits. Notes of chocolate, balsamic, wet volcanic soil, graphite and forest floor layer themselves together seamlessly. This wine exhibits tremendous richness and depth and reveals gorgeous purity. The palate possesses well-integrated tannins and a full-bodied mouthfeel. The beautiful balance of fruit, structure and acidity shows off the vineyard's pedigree.
