Wine Review: This Cabernet from Pina will appeal to readers who like big and fruity wines like Zin. This offering is opaque and very dark purple colored. It opens with a fragrant black raspberry and wild cherry bouquet with hints of new leather and vanilla oak. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, very jammy and fruit forward. The flavor profile is a ripe blackberry with notes of integrated oak, black pepper, and plum. The finish is dry and its big and dusty tannins are sticky and last for quite a while. The panel suggested that this wine be paired with slow cook and tender short ribs or Steak au Poivre. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The 2009 Firehouse is a purple ruby colored wine. The nose reveals aromas of blackberry, huckleberry, crushed rocks, mineral, spring flowers, graphite and licorice. The wine has good structure and the rustic tannins will continue to evolve as the wine ages.
