Wine Review: The Buckeye Vineyard Cabernet from Pina is consistently my favorite high end reds each year. The 2008 Buckeye continues that trend. It is opaque and onyx colored. It opens with an attractive blueberry and black cherry bouquet with a hint of menthol. On the palate, this wine is medium to full bodied and super smooth and balanced. The flavor profile is a delicious cherry vanilla with integrated mild oak and blueberry. I also detected hints of coffee and pomegranate. The finish is dry and its dusty mountain tannins show up and stick around well after the wine is gone. This fantastic wine would pair perfectly with a Grill 23 dry aged ribeye. Enjoy - Ken
