Wine Review: This pitch-black colored Petite Sirah made by Philippe Melka is Excellent! It opens with a blueberry pie and black cherry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, well-balanced and super smooth. The flavor profile is a tasty oak infused mild blueberry pie with crust and gentle graphite blend with notes of dark chocolate and black tea. I also detected a hint of blackberry in the background. The finish is dry and its bold tannins build-up and stick around for a very long time. Because this wine is not a fruit bomb, I would decant it for 30 minutes in the near term and serve it with a well-marbled ribeye. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Our 2015 Petite Sirah is deeply hued, inky with an alluring nose of plum, mulberry and charcuterie. The palate is savory and complex with notes of bacon, pencil lead, ripe black currant, blackberry, and violet complimented by long-lived chalky yet structured tannins.
