Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Lagrein from Alto Adige opens with a blackberry and violet bouquet with hints of oak. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, smooth and a bit zesty. The flavor profile is a mild blackberry and stony minerality blend with notes of black licorice, loam, and black olive. I also detected hints of spiced black plum. The finish is dry, and its dusty tannins stick around for a very long time. I would pair this big boy Lagrein with beef bourguignon. Enjoy – Ken
