Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Pinot Noir from Pennyroyal is very good. It opens with a fragrant black raspberry and black cherry liqueur bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium to full bodied, slightly acidic, quite juicy and fruit forward. The flavor profile is an extracted black raspberry with notes of anise and cherry-cola. There are also hints of black pepper and clove. The finish is dry and its rich spicy flavors linger and last for quite some time. This savory Pinot Noir would be ideal with barbecue dishes. I would serve with a Memphis styled pulled pork with slaw and baked beans. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2012 Pinot Noir has rested in the bottle for almost two years at Navarro, Pennyroyal's sister cellar; the tannins are soft with pleasing flavors of raspberry, black cherry and clove.
