Wine Review: This pitch black colored Shiraz from down opens with a boysenberry bouquet with hints of blackberry, dark chocolate and oak. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and smooth. The flavor profile is a tasty ripe black cherry with hints of mild black raspberry and hints of old oak. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins stick around for quite some time. This wine would pair well with a slow cooked beef brisket. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The Penley Estate flagship, super premium Coonawarra Shiraz , fruit all sourced from our estate vineyard. Restrained Australian shiraz with ripe blackberry, smoky oak with hints of pepper and spice. The fruit is selected from speciality blocks on our estate. The nose is of concentrated blackberries and strong smoky oak flowing through onto the pallet, it is rich and vibrant with elegant restrained tannins that compliments the rich ripe fruit. A wine to be cellared for up to 12 years, but can be enjoyed anytime leading up to cellaring potential.
