Wine Review: This medium purple colored Shiraz opens with a cardamom and black currant bouquet with hints of cedar, graphite, and mint. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, bright, and very juicy. The concentrated flavor profile is a blend of chalky minerality, black currant, and black raspberry with notes of stewed black plum and anise. We also detected hints of dried herbs and malted chocolate. The finish is dry, and its dusty tannins stick around for a while. The Tasting Panel would pair this Shiraz with beef brisket or with Hungarian goulash. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The modern Bin 28 Shiraz epitomizes Penfolds House Style with its ripe choco-berry fruits, ripe tannin structure and generous flavors. Embracing, interwoven, malleable tannins support a chewy appetizing mouthfeel. Bitter chocolate to the fore, pipe tobacco and a mass of dark-berried fruits throughout. Oak? Look harder …it’s there!
