Wine Review: This very dark purple colored wine opens with a mild black cherry bouquet with a whiff of smoky oak. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and smooth. The flavor profile is a tasty black cherry with hints of plum and black licorice and a dash of black pepper. The finish is quite dry and its big tannins linger for quite a while afterwards. The panel felt that readers who like quality Merlots would find this wine quite appealing. They also suggested pairing this Petite Sirah with a ribeye steak or steak pizziola. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Brash when young, but worth waiting for. True Grit mellows with age. Heady aromas of ripe fruit, white pepper and vanilla followed by an intense rush of fresh blackberry, dark chocolate, pepper and caramel flavors. True Grit is big, but can dance lightly in both familiar and exotic menu settings. Try it with seared steak, shrimp with black pepper pasta, or salmon with raspberry sauce.
