Wine Review: Mixing 17% Petit Verdot with Zinfandel is a blend that is inviting to me before I even try it. So when I presented it to a mini-tasting group and it was a hit, I was not surprised at all. It is very dark ruby colored and opens with a ripe blueberry bouquet with a hint of boysenberry. On the palate, this red blend is medium bodied, balanced, and fruit forward. The flavor profile is a ripe blackberry with notes of black pepper, blueberry, and black licorice. The finish is dry and its fruit flavors linger nicely. I would pair this crowd pleaser with barbecue steak tips. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: A sophisticated mix of wild blackberry, blueberry and vanilla bean notes, underscored by dark chocolate and tobacco leaf layers. The Petit Verdot adds depth and firmness, but the tannins remain smooth and approachable. Generous flavors of chocolate-covered wild strawberries with hints of lavender and blackberry jam finish.
