Wine Review: This midnight purple colored wine from Italy opens with a cassis and oak bouquet with hints of tea. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and smooth. The flavor profile is a black cherry, black plum, and black tea blend with notes of chocolate and oak. I also detected hints of black pepper and chalky minerality. The finish is dry and its dusty tannins build-up and last for quite a while. I would decant this wine for a little while as it benefits from the aeration. Then I would pair it with an Italian braciole. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Le Volte dell'Ornellaia combines a Mediterranean expression of generosity with structure and complexity, reflecting the philosophy of Ornellaia. It represents the first step into the Ornellaia family, and is an ideal wine for everyday enjoyment.
