Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Mataro from Once and Future is made from grapes from 122-year-old vines. It opens with plum and blackberry bouquet with hints of oak and wet stone. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel has great palate coverage. It is also balanced, round, and seamless. The flavor profile is a stewed red plum and oak blend with notes of brambly blackberry and orange zest. I also detected hints of clove, cinnamon, and strawberry. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity and moderate managed tannins are nicely extended. I would pair this very good Mataro with braised short ribs. Enjoy – Ken
