Wine Review: This ruby colored Mataro from Once and Future opens with a blackberry, black pepper, and oak bouquet with hints of red currant and allspice. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, layered, and bright. The flavor profile is black raspberry and black plum with notes of currant and cedar. We also detected some hint of fresh cracked black pepper, five spice, and red Twizzler. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity and moderate tannins linger nicely. The Tasting Panel would pair this Mataro with a charcuterie board or with cioppino. Enjoy – KWGTP
