Wine Review: This deep ruby colored Zinfandel opens with a very inviting blackberry bouquet with hints of vanilla oak, black olive, and prune. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied, very well-balanced, dense, and super smooth. This flavor profile is blackberry and dusty mineral blend with notes of dried oregano, black raspberry, and black pepper. There is a touch of oak and prune in the aftertaste. The finish is dry and its dusty tannins stick around for quite a while. The Panel would pair this Zin with a Bandoleros Birria taco with shredded beef brisket chihuahua and red onion or with braised short ribs. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The 2019 Old Hill Ranch has black cherries, blackberries, and aromatic spices with a hint of camphor which speaks to the complex mix of grapes in this wine. In the mouth there is a dense wall of flavor that will become differentiated as the wine evolves. Black fruit flavors dominate. The tannin is assertive and the finish long, indicating that this is a wine that will cellar well.
