Wine Review: This slightly cloudy and pale straw-colored Viognier based blend from Olivia Brion opens with a very attractive lychee and apricot bouquet with hints of orange blossoms and rose petals. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, and a little zippy. The flavor profile is an Anjou pear and lychee blend with notes of citrus, apricot, saline and ginger. We also detected hints of chalky minerality and lemon tea. The finish is dry and drifts away nicely The Tasting Panel would swirl this wine and then pair this white blend with pan-seared Chilean sea bass or with fish tacos. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: This wine is an homage to Annette Kellerman (1887- 1975) who was a professional Olympic swimmer, vaudeville star, film actress, writer, and business owner. The wine enters with verbose aromatics of fresh honeysuckle flower, candied orange blossom and a touch of key lime pie. This wine brightens the palate with a high arc of acidity tempered by pleasing viscosity and a subtle creaminess. The only thing that would make this wine better is a plate full of freshly shucked Kumamoto oysters.
