Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Merlot from Napa Valley was well received by the Tasting Panel. It opens with a black raspberry bouquet with hints of oak and cherry-cola. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic, smooth and round. The flavor profile is a tart cherry and blueberry blend with hints of fig and black tea. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins build up and last for quite some time. The Panel suggested drinking this Merlot on its own or decanting it and serving it with roast duck breast. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: To naturally soften tannins and enhance varietal complexity, Tony allowed the grapes to undergo extended maceration. He then pressed the wine and transferred it to French oak barrels (45% new oak) to undergo a long malolactic fermentation for roundness and depth. Using Syrah as a blender, adds a dark velvety feel to lush berry flavor profile of the Merlot. Dense black fruit aromas are followed by blueberry and chocolate flavors, and supple tannins on the palate.
